Evaluations

Thorough assessments of your child’s speech and language abilities

Speech-Language evaluations completed in a child’s natural environment provide a better and more authentic look at the child’s skills.  Having a parent or guardian available gives related information during the assessment, as well as a more comfortable situation.

Articulation/Phonology

Assessments of sounds in words. Articulation focuses on distortions and substitutions in productions of individual speech sounds.
Phonological processes focus on predictable, rule-based errors that affect more than one sound.

Language

Assessment of receptive and expressive language.
Receptive language – what is understood.
Expressive language – what is spoken.

Fluency

Assessment of speech fluency.
Stuttering is a speech disorder that interrupts the normal flow of speech.

Oral Motor

Assessment of structure and range of movement of lips, tongue, cheeks, and jaw.
Oral motor skills are assessed for muscles of the face and oral area, especially those movements related to speech and eating.

Comprehensive Evaluations include assessments of articulation, fluency, language, and oral-motor.
